Budgeting for professional photography can be a challenge. When times are good, the added expense can seem unnecessary and when times are lean, it can seem impossible. One of the questions I hear most often from architects, landscape architects, and other small to medium sized businesses who I’m speaking to about visual marketing is, “why do I even need photos?”
Here’s another great infographic to help answer this question, this one from the presentation design folks at Ethos3. You can see for yourselves, but here are the highlights:
- content with visuals gets 94% more total views than that without.
- the average person reads only 20% of text on a regular webpage.
- 75% of executives watch work-related videos at least once per week.
- People generally retain 10% of what they hear, 20% of what they read, but 80% of what they see!
My takeaway from this tells me that if you’re going to market your firm, you’re better off making it visual and reaping more reward from your hard work. If you’re not going to market your firm, then this won’t matter to you anyway.
